Independent house builder will save four to five days per month
by automating finance function
Independent house builder, Barry Howard Homes Ltd, has placed
an order with IRIS Enterprise Software for its business and
accounting software, Exchequer. The new system will save the
company four to five days per month as a result of streamlining
financial processes, reducing manual administration and improving
the production and availability of management reports across the
business.
Barry Howard Homes is part of the Barry Howard Group Plc. The
business has developed and dramatically expanded since its
establishment in the 1990s. Barry Howard Homes is one of the
Midlands region's larger independent house builders now developing
in excess of 120 dwelling units per annum. The company portfolio
includes new homes, renovation of buildings and listed
buildings.
The implementation of Exchequer will provide Barry Howard
Homes with a flexible, scaleable and resilient financial
infrastructure that will underpin further business growth as the
company looks to continue its rapid expansion in the Midlands
region.

Neil Brawn, Group Financial Controller at Barry Howard Homes,
says, "With Exchequer we will be able to drive down manual admin
processes within the finance function, which will free up the time
of finance staff to focus on analysing business performance rather
than number-crunching. We will also be able to produce far more
sophisticated management reports which provide 'real-time'
information and enable us to analyse the profitability of any home
or building within our portfolio."
He continues, "We expect that Exchequer will save us around
four to five days per month as a result of the level of automation
that the system enables within the finance department. In an
industry as competitive as ours it is essential to have robust IT
systems that can help us to be more agile and responsive as a
business whilst providing us with the relevant Key Performance
Indicators which will drive further expansion."
The versatility of the OLE Report Writer within Exchequer will
bring significant benefits to Barry Howard Homes, as it provides a
seamless link between Microsoft Excel and the financial management
data held within Exchequer. By producing management reports within
Microsoft Excel, Barry Howard Homes's management team will have
visibility of financial information in a familiar and user-friendly
format, which makes it very easy to analyse and interpret business
performance.
Barry Howard Homes has invested in the region of £20,000 in
Exchequer and the system is expected to go live in January
2005.
